DESCRIPTION

Description

This position is with the Enterprise System Management (ESM) department.

As a team lead for fullstack development, you will have a team of developers reporting to you, working across one or more squads. The team lead is responsible for driving and improving technical standards, developing and mentoring technical talent, and partnering with product owners to ensure squads are operating well.

Development is primarily a mix of Java, Python and Angular, with some other frontend frameworks and a small amount of Go. The successful candidate should have rich experience with enterprise OO development, but may not be expert or even directly experienced in all of these technologies. We are looking for a self-aware leader who wants to continue their own learning, and can guide their team to help each other and leverage the support of the broader global chapter area of around 70 developers.

This is a player-coach role where you will get to do hands-on development and architecture, in addition to managing technical talent. Your team members will be working in global squads where their voice and their commitment to quality are valued.

The main responsibilities of the position are:
  • Participate in the global chapter area leadership group, defining how we scale development and manage talent across the area.
  • Do hands-on development in agile squads alongside your team members, with the opportunity to work across multiple products, projects and technologies over time.
  • Provide code review feedback, implement coding standards and promote software quality practices.
  • Help new developers to become effective quickly, including taking on relevant standards and policies.
  • Foster a culture of pairing and continual learning.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners to apply your expertise and feed back into their plans.
  • Apply and continually improve DevOps practices and automation, and collaborate with the operations team to roll out applications to the production environment.
